An American Marriage by Tayari Jones

5.0

Bottom line for me is this book was one of the best books I have read in quite awhile.

The writing captures you from the start and once you start the book it is hard to put down.

The story was told from three POVs and in letters. The story is multi-layered and explores so many topics that are timely and also universal (the American justice system especially concerning black men, prejudices, marriage, relationships, parents, families).

The characters were fully developed so you really feel for each one of them. I appreciated that no character is bad or totally good. They all come across as being so human you feel like the story could be non-fiction.

Highly recommend this book.
