Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture by Roxane Gay

challenging emotional reflective sad tense fast-paced

5.0

I've come to expect nothing but greatness from Roxanne Gay, and this anthology of essays is no exception. Though each write 's stories and style are uniquely individual, the collection is cohesive.

Dark and raw, these stories drip with honesty, sadness, rage, confusion, and anger. Terrifyingly, one emotion that it lacks is hope. This book is a conundrum, as the tellers are powerful and poweless.

This books has two flaws:
1. That the women who read this will too easily relate to the stories AND
2. The people who should read these stories are the least likely to pick it up. In that manner, I suppose the flaws lie not in the collection, but in society itself.
