Renegades by Marissa Meyer

5.0

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
This was so good!!! Marissa Meyer doesn't disappoint.
So, starting off with the plot; it was amazing. I may have spoiled myself the ending when I began reading the book, but it was still kind of shocking. I love the superhero vibes and the found family trope. I'll admit that the first part of the story was a bit slow, but it was definitely worth it.
Another thing I really liked was the fact that the superheroes have uncommon powers. I mean, like there's your typical water-controlling hero, or the one who can fly. But there's also so many more incredible abilities I had never read about in a book before. Like, Adrian's power? Amazing. I really appreciate the creative process that must have been put into coming up with all of those new skills.
Now, for the romance. Nova and Adrian's relationship was... interesting. Don't get me wrong, they were super cute, especially in the last parts of the book, like when they're on their "date" at the amusement park. They make a really good couple and they have a great trope. It's just that I would have liked a tiny bit more tension. From Nova's part, particularly.
Finally, the characters. Another AAAAAAAAAAAAA. They were so amazing. Starting off with Adrian. He's such a good mix of shy and daring, just really swoon-worthy. And we like a guy who shows affection. Then we have Nova. She's a great character and I loved her, but she did give me that eek feeling every once in a while, when she pushed Adrian away. Ok, Ingrid. Wow. At the beginning of the book I would have never expected her to end up acting the way she did. That kind of really surprised me. Well, the rest of the Renegade family; Oscar, Ruby, Danna, Max. They were all amazing. And Oscar and Ruby's relationship was SO cute. I love a good friends to lovers who are trying to hide the fact that they like each other.
Just a great action/romance/dystopia/superhero book.
