Biting the Bullet by Jennifer Rardin

This is a series that I am finding gets better and better with each book. When I first started it I was a little thrown off with Jaz's character. I just felt like she was all over the place, and really she is. Her character can go off in a dozen different directions. While it's kind of interesting to read something like that it's also confusing. This is why with this series you have to pay attention to every little detail. Jennifer Rardin does a little backstory on previous events but only enough to jog your memory if you've read the previous books. These books in no way allow people to pick them up anywhere and start (at least not that I've encountered so far).
With that said, Biting the Bullet, Book 3 of the Jaz Parks series, is the best so far. Jaz's twin Dave finally makes an appreance (for more than a few pages). Jaz and crew are sent to the Middle East in search of the Wizard. Along the way more creatures are introduced to the series and this is where I have some issue with it. I feel at times there are almost too many mystical creatures introduced. Usually they build upon each other until there's almost too many to keep track of. Instead of focusing one story on developing a new creature we see things from previous books reappear along with the new. Which goes back to my advice of paying close attention to the goings on in this series.
I liked the addition of Dave's military crew to the cast of characters. I don't know if any of them will make appearances in future books, but it was nice to have our normal crew interact with others.
The relationship between Vayl and Jaz continues to grow. I think the addition of Cole's feelings for Jaz is just filler. It's obvious to me that even though she may be hesitant to get into a relationship, she really cares about Vayl. I'm interested to see how much more there relationship progresses. Jennifer Rardin did a great job building it and yet not making it felt too drawn out for our characters to get together.
I look forward to continuing this series. Like I said, it only keeps getting better. Until Then!
