So very good, written in a beautiful, honest, clearly worded and bordering poetry in many instances style. Coming of age story with additional challenges afforded by being a bookish, Black, and gay child of a single parent looking for voice, love and self realization.
I saw Saeed Jones in an interview with Isabel Wilkerson for the Texas Book Festival , where he was the moderator. The warmth, engagement and insight he showed made me interested in his voice and his story. I sought out his memoir, and wasn’t disappointed.
