As with most of Roth's work, this story brings up very intriguing questions in harsh sci-fi settings and I'm here for it. This was a very intriguing dark tale blending questions of fate and fortune. It's a bit of a dystopian scifi, highlighting the unrest on a planet shared by multiple kingdoms and persons. It's told from two POVs,  one from each side of the divide. Both Cyra and Akos grew up knowing their future was fated, but with all prophecy, interpretation is key. This brutal story highlights what choices you might make when faced with extremes. Who are you most loyal too? Blood, love or the greater good? And who defines that good?
The story ends at a reasonable moment in the story, so not crazy cliff-hanger thankfully, but I am still very eager to continue and see how it all wraps up.
