Vampirella/Red Sonja #1 by Drew Moss, Jordie Bellaire

5.0

So I’d never heard of Vampirella until I discovered Nancy A. Collins and saw that she’s written several stories about Vampirella when I went looking for what else she’d written besides the Red Sonja volume I’d seen she was a part of. I love vampires, so I was naturally curious about this Vampirella. I was going to read Nancy A. Collins’ portrayal of Vampirella first, but I actually read one of her other series with Red Sonja instead, though I do plan to go back and read her Vampirella books someday. I hadn’t even planned on reading a comic with Vampirella right now, but then I saw Jordie Bellaire’s mashup of Vampirella and Red Sonja and I just had to read it! Plus the plot sounded like it would be up my alley too!

I started reading Vampirella/Red Sonja #1 right away and I really enjoyed it! Vampirella is an awesome, strong character and I loved her immediately for being interested in the Dyatlov Pass incident, but even if it had been another event that she was investigating — based on this first issue, I would love her regardless. Like I said, she’s strong and confident and I’m looking forward to getting to know more of her and the same goes for Red Sonja! This was a fantastic start to the story and I’m so excited to read more!
