Heaven Official's Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu (Novel) Vol. 3 by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu

Only, in this world, simply doing your best isn't good enough.” (97)

Volume 3 picks up where Volume 2 ended. We see more of Xie Lian's former life during and after the first ascension. We see his immaturity and naivety, even learn more about the origin of Human Face Disease. I admire Xie Lian's resilience. He's always going to be my favorite character. Some intense scenes play out during this flashback. And then we return to present day with Qi Rong. I absolutely hate Qi Rong and much like what Hua Cheng said, I too consider Rong-er trash. Much like the previous books, it ends on a cliffhanger to the next adventure.
This volume didn't have me crying thankfully. It kept things interesting though. I especially enjoyed the lake and temple scene, basically everything in Xie Lian's return to Ghost City. Holding hands, kissing, what's next? Oh wait, he made a vow. But he's known for breaking them so I'll have to read and find out if my predictions play out in volume 4. The cover of that one seems to show me something is gonna go down…or get up teehee🤭
