Great intro for beginners! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the tales I’ve come to know through a new voice, though I am anything but a beginner on the subject… but I think it is a perfect start for anyone interested in Japanese mythology/ myths/ folklore! The writer’s voice was straightforward, but also boasted the fantastical nature of Japanese Myth through his storytelling. I’d say it was a mix of dry/ vivid prose. Again, anyone interested in Japanese mythology… this is a good place to start! There may be better, but this is still a good book in its own right!
