Alien: Prototype by Tim Waggoner

3.0

I want to know why in the world this author decided that this alien (which is not a queen) could produce an egg. There’s literally no explanation, just the statement that the alien decides to find a quiet place for its egg. Umm….. Someone please comment if there’s something somewhere in canon to explain this, because I was so thrown off by this huge error that I struggled briefly to get back into the story. But otherwise the author seems to know - and worth within - the details of canon well.

Overall, it was pretty enjoyable. Not as good as Cold Forge or Into Charybdis. Better than Infiltrator. So it falls somewhere in the middle ranking of Alien world books. I enjoyed getting back to the classic concept of the original film - one alien.
