My only complaint about this book is that the author constantly failed to identify the speaker, it was always "he said" and I often had no idea who "he" was.  Other than that this book was perfect.  Once I settled into permanent confusion about who was saying what, I enjoyed the vivid interiority and history.   Not sure how I have the authority to say that a novel about 16th century England is "realistic," but it does feel that way.
