This morning I walked into the reading café in my hometown. It's a wonderful place where you can get books for free, as long as you tell everyone about this place and what it does. Especially when they want to get rid of their book collection. On the shelf with English books I found this one and although I normally never read short stories, I was curious to read those.

It's a good thing that I haven't paid for the book, as I'm slightly disappointed right now. The stories weren't that good. Most of them were rushed and lacked a decent background to work with. It felt as if the writers hadn't really thought about their worlds, hadn't looked further than what they had to write down.

I also wasn't really capable of connecting with any of the characters, but I didn't hate or dislike them either. I guess that's because they lacked background and personality. I know that it's hard to build your entire world, mythology and characters well in a short story, but I also know that this is not how it's done.

Well, at least I finished the book rather quickly and I brought three other books from the amazing place in Venray too, so hopefully those are better!
