You can start and finish this challenge whenever you like!

This reading challenge has been created with a self-serving purpose-- to expand my library of books by writers who share an experience of gender that is outside the gender binary like mine. I also put this together as a way to open myself up to reading books I might not otherwise seek out and invite others to do so with me. This challenge is open to finish whenever you like because the purpose is to collect lists of great books by writers who are Two Spirit, Indigiqueer, Hijra, Fa'afafine, nonbinary,  agender, genderfluid, or otherwise outside of the gender binary.

Please read about the author and learn what pronouns that person uses before writing about a book for a review. This challenge is specifically to highlight the work of writers outside the gender binary. If you are uncertain how an author or poet identifies, please learn about them and then determine whether it would be respectful to categorize that person's gender as outside the gender binary.

If you are interested in adding books by trans women and trans men who do not identify outside the gender binary, please do so on the Reading Trans Writers reading challenge.
