Book One The Taken Ones was so good. I can’t wait for the second book in the series to be released in September. Reading this Novella helps bridge the gap. Steinbeck and Reed are very engaging characters and as a duo.

I liked the characters and the central plot, but any paranormal elements in my mysteries or thrillers tends to pull me out of the narrative.

I liked the premise of this story better than the rest in the series. I wouldn’t mind a full novel exploring these characters!

This is one of those situations where I came across a later installment first and really wanted to read it. So, of course, I went back and started the series from the beginning. I’m weird that way; I blame it on the day job. Anyway, at 44pgs, this is a quick read (about an hour) and the book summary pretty much says it all.

What the book summary doesn’t mention is that Van has visions, bad visions, visions of real-life monsters. The ending has a twist that is a shocker. Ok, I’m interested. Yes, I will be continuing the series.

I like these short stories from Amazon. They really help me get out of my reading slump, or pallet cleanse in between longer page books.
