Bored out of my mind...the characters' lives are so very stereotypical versions of real life MUNDANENESS...ugh! Just moved too slow for me when nothing is really happening.

DNF at page 120
I like the premise of the book and the setting, the characters were complex with well-fleshed out backstories. This book is set on Parameter Street with a cast of characters from the neighborhood spanning teenagers on their last Halloween to cheating assholes. All of the characters felt real and their personal drama was moving.
In the end it was the multiple POV's and lack of horror that did it for me. By page 120 we had spent a lot of time getting to know characters and experiencing some personal downfalls with them but nothing truly horrifying had happened. I also personally feel like multiple POV's changing every chapter is wayyyy too much when it comes to a standalone horror novel set on Halloween.
I've set out to read more horror before Halloween and I just don't have time to wait on this slow burn novel.

This was a pretty entertaining read and a nice no-brainer too.
I wouldn’t describe it as horrifying or even particularly scary but the plot still managed to surprise me. I enjoyed the switching of perspectives too as they prevented things from dragging, though I did quickly develop favourites. No hate to Tony but his chapters are the Bran Stark equivalent.

Nice, kinda old-fashioned atmospheric horror. Thoroughly enjoyed.

This was a very good spooky book. Most importantly a good book to read at Halloween. Even though I read it in May. Set in the 80’s it has a Tick r Treat (Movie) vibe with storylines that crossed paths.

This book should have been great. Taking place in a new England neighborhood on halloween in the 80s?! Hell yeah! But the characters were so flat, boring and a good example of forced diversity.

E.t.a: read more like a family drama than horror, so I took down one star the more I thought about it.
