BORN TO RUN was the second book that I got to read for Harper Collins. I think I'm going to for a pro/con list on this one.

Take the Good:
1) Very interesting premise. I'm a total sucker for a good constitutional crisis. (And I'm not being ironic. I'm a nerd.)
2) I liked the climatic final scenes, I'm also a sucker for a good hostage situation.
3) Fast-paced and overall a fun and quick read.

Take the Bad:
1) I did not care for Jack's sidekick Theo. I didn't think he was funny, or a good foil for Jack, or anything. To me he came off as contrived and sort of a tool.
2) I also didn't buy the character of the Greek. I think the author was trying to make him a somewhat sympathetic villian, but I never got a real feel for him. First he was good, then he was bad - I appreciate not having a stock character, but I didn't get a real sense of him at all.
3) Jack's girlfriend is named Andie. I hate the name Andie.

Take them both:
And there you have. The facts of life. Or, an okay read.

What a great book! I really enjoyed the character of Jack Swyteck. I also liked the short chapters, makes for an easy read when you're busy with work and home life!

A good fast pace read. I had forgotten that I've read the book a while back, but had forgotten the main twist making it a good re-read.

Thrilling fast paced adventure. Though jumping into book #8 of a series leaves some unanswered questions, Grippando writes to bring you into the characters lives.

Really like the character Jack Swytek. He was trying to help out his dad who was asked to be the next vice president and gets pulled into a conspiracy to bring down the president. Lots of different groups involved and he has to sort out the good guys and figure out who is telling the truth and who isn't all without getting killed. He is kidnapped and his girlfriend, who is an FBI agent is involved in the hostage negotiations.
The ending was not what I suspected so I liked that.
