So I was reading this for a haunted house themed reading vlog and this is not a haunted house story. This is a cult story. It was good, but one of the plot points can be considered harmful and didn't include any additional discussion on the topic to fight negative stereotypes. It was a gripping and interesting book in general..

After a traumatic incident that leaves Mallory and Liz orphaned and separated from each other for over 20 years, Mallory finds the last piece to make her family again.  Mallory is stubborn and headstrong almost against all better judgement but she makes a fascinating character that shows deep loyalty to those she loves (it’s not Ben).
Mallory ends up in a small town that might hold the key to her sister but holds deeper and much darker secrets as well. What’s up with all the perfectly sculpted women at each and every shop and why are they silent? How is this connected to Liz?

Very fast paced and short punchy chapters.

Girl Idk. The ending was something else.

It's been way too long since I read a Brandon Massey book.
The Quiet Ones didn't disappoint.
Liz and her younger sister Mallory are home when their mom is murdered by an ex boyfriend.
Mallory loves to write. Liz loves to draw.
The girls are split up and put in the system having no other known relatives. Mallory lucks out with good adopted parents. She goes on to become a newspaper journalist. But she never stops wondering where her sister is. After a DNA test reveals that her sister had a daughter, Mallory will stop at nothing to find her. It's not going to be easy. Seeing how her sister is part of what seems like a cult.
What follows is a thrilling ride that Mallory's boyfriend Ben is on as well. Is Liz really dead? What happened to her when they got split up as kids? How did she come to be under "The Fathers" thumb?
Four stars for Mallory not being the most likable MC.
Being there when your mom was murdered and losing your sister might not make me the most likable either. But there were points where it was a lot. When she met her niece things didn't go the way she planned. She behaved in a way you probably wouldn't if you're with the only link to your sister.
Her treatment of Ben from time to time... Her hardheadedness storming into dangerous situations. A good Brandon Massey read nonetheless.

Definite page turner, very fast paced and suspenseful. If I could have read this in one sitting, I would have. Written in true Brandon Massy style so of course the twist was a tad bit far fetched but entertaining for sure. I enjoyed the ride while reading and I’ll be continuing my binge of BM’s work.

This was my first read by Brandon Massey after he was recommended multiple times for a horror themed read. The overall story seemed promising but the ending fell flat. I figured out the storyline well before the ending. I’m trying to figure next book by him and hoping it adds a lil more thrill to it.
