I’ve been meaning to read this book for a while and I’m so glad I did. It’s an incredible look into the history of women’s music festivals, how they work, challenges they’ve faced, and so on. Every chapter is filled with firsthand accounts from both Morris’s interviewees and from Morris herself, as well as other scholarly input where necessary. The end of the book is filled with writings from women at several festivals over several years, all talking about their experiences and their love for the community.

I just went to my first festival last September, and I’ve been searching wildly for books about them ever since. Reading this book made me feel like I was there again, and was full of so much herstory—I’d recommend it to anyone looking to learn more or deepen their experience of their first few festivals. Thank you, Bonnie!
