This may be due to my lack of experience when it comes to reading graphic novels, but this just might be my favourite one I've ever read.

The story follows four anthropomorphic main characters on a D&D style adventure with loads of action, humor and plot twists. Each of the four characters did go on mini character-development arcs of their own, and many of the side characters were given memorable traits or backstories to keep readers invested.

I seriously loved everything about this book. At first I thought this was just going to be a short, light-hearted adventure, but I found myself gasping and screaming internally several times towards the climax. I was genuinely surprised by how invested I was in the main characters and story by the end, and I have no idea how the authors managed to cram so much stuff into this one book without it being too overwhelming for the readers.

I loved the art so much! The character designs were eye-catching and memorable, and there were so many hidden details in the backgrounds! The colours were so much fun, and I loved how they were used to set different tones depending on the scene or what a character was going through. Some scenes were definitely quite dramatic BUT I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.

I loved this book so much and I can't wait for a sequel!

The whole bear court sequence gave massive Ace Attorney vibes.

This was so adorable, and fun! The art pops, and I found myself loving all the characters (Goro especially though), along with a solidly built world that has enough interest to hold the most reluctant reader. Riess and Goetter did a phenomenal job creating something that's such a good time, and I would highly recommend this.

It was a perfect story. Every single character had drive, purpose, backstory, growth, plotlines. I usually gloss over the puns in my middle grade reads, but I genuinely laughed at these. Best read of the year so far!

Cute and funny story with an art style I really liked. I shared it with my teenage daughter, and she loved it even more than I did.
