Amazing book, really enjoyed it. Easy to read, exciting fast paced plot, and fun characters. The Allomancy "magic" system is well rounded and nicely thought out; it sounds like a very desirable and fun power to have, which those kinds of things should be in fantasy novels. The characters also talk like real people, rather than in ponderous overly serious tones which often plague this genre.

A few things: I was unable to get a feel of the scale of the world. Does The Lord Ruler rule EVERYTHING? We really only see one city, so that was hard to grasp. The final confrontation was over a little quickly, and I found the crew chatting with a newly created Inquisitor at the end a little comical, as they had been figures of dread and menace the rest of the book!

Am very keen to start on the second one, I hope the quality continues.

I enjoyed the book but it does have a slow start.

This is the most thorough and well-conceived and executed fantasy plot I have ever read. Of course that was how it had to end— but I never saw it coming. The theme of hope was central to the plot and the reason why it worked. Yes, I did cry a couple times throughout the last few chapters.
