"My life was an unending, unchanging midnight. It must, by necessity, always be midnight for me. So how was it possible that the sun was rising now, in the middle of my midnight?"

Some of this answered questions I had about Twilight, which was nice... It was also interesting to see it from a different perspective, but I felt that a lot of the book was a bit redundant.

Midnight Sun is Twilight from Edward's perspective. While it may seem like a rehash, there are subtle details and a lot of stories of the Cullen family that we learn here. In Twilight, Edward seemed like he was really confident, seemed like he had his shit under control, here we realize he loathes himself. He basically hates his vampire self and hates it, even more, when he's unable to leave Bella despite the danger he poses. Bella, on the contrary in Edwards's view, is very independent and has strong opinions, exactly opposite of the Bella we know from Twilight. Maybe this is because we knew Bella's thought while here Edward doesn't, lol.

So after a lot of planning, plotting, accidents, sleep-watching, they are in love. Edward always has a lot going on in his mind every time lol (You'll understand when you read). But at one point, all he says is how fragile and breakable Bella is and I was so done! Like I know okay, Bella is a human, I get it!! Also, the fact that he acknowledges he's a stalker for getting into her bedroom but continues despite that!! This book is plagued by the same weird issues as the first one really!

After a lot of rambling on Edward's part, comes the best part of the book. This part was so detailed and gruesome, that I hated James and felt so bad for Bella. At this point, Edward is already decided. He's come to terms with the kind of danger that he poses to Bella's life and he's ready to let her be. Honestly, now I can see why he leaves her in New Moon. It has already begun here. While I don't know if Meyer is going to continue but I liked knowing the reasons Edward had behind this step. Not the best book but it was fun to read.

PS: This was my first ever audiobook, Jake Abel was the narrator and I loved it! Looking forward to listening to great content!
