Alice is ready to take down her Reader, she has been training and all she needs now is a prison book, one that Ending says is empty. Alice has to make it through a book and back again, and get home before the Reader knows that she’s been in the books without his permission. A fast adventure that keeps the reader asking intelligent questions. For those who have read the others and can’t wait for the next in the series seventh grade on up.

One sentence summary: Another wild ride in the Forbidden Library series with great fantastical elements!

Review: So I love this series. Which means this review is not going to be completely unbiased. Alice, Ashes, Isaac, Ending, etc. are all back in this latest installment, but the focus is completely on Alice and her drive to get revenge against Geryon. When Geryon unexpectedly leaves the library, Ending and Alice see their chance to find a trap that will stop Geryon from hurting anyone else ever again. Of course, getting the trap from the Palace of Glass (which no one ever returns from sane) isn’t going to be easy. I could gush about the characterization all day, but what always sticks out for me in this series is the pure creativity behind all of the fantasy elements. From fire-sprites to the Ouroborean, I never knew quite what was coming next in the plot or as a character. This book won’t make a lot of sense to readers who have not read the previous installments in the series, but I would definitely give this to fantasy fans looking for a new series.

A lovely third part to this amazing series. Has a bit of a 'middle book' feeling, because it's setting up a few plot points for the next and final book, but still stands very well by itself.

The characters are obviously growing and I saw none of the plottwists coming!

Hoo boy, what a doozy of an instalment! Wexler's pacing has always been great, but the pacing in this book was just top notch - could barely put it down.

I thought Alice's disapproving-dad dreams was such a great touch.

SpoilerDamn it, another thing I didn't question: what happened to Alice's mother? I presumed that she had either died or just not around, but with this being with the giant eye saving her and the Ouroborean wondering what she is as she's dismantled him raises quite a few questions (and some theories too!).

Gah I can't wait for the last book!

Continuing a series I started with my 10 1/2 year old - delightful reads, very engrossing, super interesting plot and characters.
