every time she cursed I laughed so hard. such a lovely audio book!

I have loved watching Ina’s show for years and love her cookbooks. There wasn’t anything really ground breaking or any dark secrets in this but it was so interesting to hear her life story from her. I listened to the audio and it was like having a cozy chat with a friend. I also really love her life philosophy of giving things a try. The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work out and you do something different.

I think it's interesting, when reading non-fiction, to see where the author lights up. Sometimes, it's difficult to point out a specific spot, but other times, it's easier. In this book, it's all about food and community and love. It's easy to say that the earlier years feel drier in the writing because they were perhaps drier in their love, but I think you can always push a story if necessary. The book, for me, definitely picked up when food got involved— the descriptions came out, the passion was there. I've only ever known Ina Garten from her show, but I liked knowing the fuller story behind cooking.

I enjoyed the author’s narration of the audiobook, and learning about the east Hamptons. I knew nothing of that area or her prior to this book; I enjoyed getting to know her story and I am excited to try some of her recipes. :)
