It was nice to see that at the beginning of the book there was directions on how you are supposed to read the illustrations. It was a quick read. A bit of a twist on the original Beauty and the Beast. This was enjoyable. Would be nice if there was little bit more to the story but all in all you got the understanding of what was going on and wasn't hard to follow along.

This was an adorable graphic novel for children. Thanks again to NetGalley and Picture Window Books for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for feedback.

This is a children’s book that is in graphic novel format. This is great, as it allows young readers to read a book in this format, while keeping it simple as to not feel lost when reading it. It provides a cute and diverse retelling of the classic fairy tale. I was very pleased with the illustrations and how the story flowed. I can’t wait to recommend this to young readers!

One of my favorite Disney princess stories! Beauty and the Beast is a classic; Gunderson's adaptation was a revamped new twist bringing Belle into 2020. I found it very interesting that Belle had sisters when in the original she was an only child. Reminiscent of another one of Disney's creations, Cinderella. The artwork/graphics were exquisite, loved how all the characters were drawn. A nice, enjoyable, easy read; great for early-readers. Preferably kids in first or second grade around six to seven years of age would absolutely love this book. One of my only wishes for this short story would have been the integration of other key characters; such as Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the cutest one of them all Chip.

I received a copy of this graphic novel from netgalley for the copy in exchange for my honest review!

This is the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast but for a VERY young audience... even for the targetted age range, it seems far too dumbed down. I think a lot of the story has been left out which is a bit disappointing. I did like the art style though, and how Beauty was a person of colour to add diversity into the story. But like I said, I wish that the story had gone a bit more in depth.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with a digital copy to read and review. This in no way impacted my opinions.

This is clearly a graphic novel for young children who have never read a graphic novel before.

At the beginning, it so wonderfully explains how to read a graphic novel, including adding sound effects when you read, too. I love that. I could have used that when I was a kid.

The story is a very simplified version of the regular Beauty and the Beast fairy tale – minus the people turned into appliances and crockery. The beast is alone in his castle, and only has roses for company.

While I appreciate that this was an extremely simplified version for the sake of young children, was quite thrown by the fact that Beauty suddenly loved Beast?

That aside, I think the illustrations are incredible. It was wonderful to see Beauty as a woman of colour, and also to see that she had two sisters as well.

Teachers and educators will definitely appreciate, and no doubt make use, of the wonderful selection of questions for children to answer. As well as instructions on how to make a paper rose

3/5 stars from me.

This is an adorable children's book! It's great to see this classic fairytale with some representation in it. The art style is super cute and it would be great for young kids who love the movie!

First of all, I would like to thank you for the ARC of this book which was kindly provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
It is a graphic retelling of the classic fairytale beauty and the beast. A cute middle-grade graphic novel. However, It is too simplistic for my taste, yet, it should be perfect for small children, due to graphic novels vivid colours and simplicity. Sadly characters felt flat and whole story rushed through. The things I liked were the inclusion of racial diversity and questions at the end of the book.

I don't think the author brought anything new to the fairytale of Beauty and the Beast which is so unfortunate. For such a beloved story that most everyone loves most authors bring something new to it and make it their own, but Gunderson gave a very watered down rendition that felt lack luster, especially since children generally want fantastical things. Overall it was disappointing.

This is not a retelling of Beauty and the Beast it's Beauty and the Beast in graphic novel form for the earliest readers. And it's well done. Similar to Disney the story has been simplified. It's actually even simpler than Disney's version. But it works. And lots of kids will find it interesting, entertaining, and fun to look at.

This was cute and a fun little retelling of beauty and the beast. I did wish it was longer.
And maybe a bad guy. :( but it was enjoyable
