Good, short read
A nice taste test of what this series has to offer. Extremely short, but got its point across. I'm excited to get into the series.

A little short, but it made me want to continue the Shadow Campaigns, so I liked it.

Terribly intriguing, but so short!!
It was more than enough to get me to read the first book of The Shadow Campaigns, The Thousand Names.

My sister is balls-deep in the Shadow Campaigns series and she's absolutely ecstatic about them. I was happy to see there was a freely downloadable prequel short story set in the universe so I could partake in her joy a bit.
Wexler paints his setting and the characters with a sure hand, leaving the reader on a firm footing right away regarding relationships and motivations. Thief protagonist Alex's odd powers are interesting, and her confrontation with assassin Andreas escalates things in an exciting way.
It's only a bit of a shame that it ends on a cliffhanger, making it... pretty much a teaser for the main series!

Really interesting short read. I wonder if the somewhat open ending will make it possible for certain characters to appear in the next book...

This didn't really offer anything new apart from introducing characters that will likely show up in the second book of the series. It was interesting to read about another Name though.
