What rollicking fun!

Recommend for anyone who has ever wished English would be more consistent, who likes colorful illustrations and characters, and for those who think they know plenty about the period following the American revolution, but still would be pleasantly surprised to learn something knew.

Not terribly long and full of fun facts— such as why we don’t have that delightful “u” our commonwealth friends retain, this is a good read aloud when talking about Revolutionary America with 4th grade, providing cultural information about the new nation. A nice intro to Noah Webster, An Inconvenient Alphabet will also expand their knowledge of Benjamin Franklin.

An Inconvenient Alphabet is a fantastic informational book about Ben Franklin and Noah Webster's quest to simplify the alphabet. It would be great to read with upper elementary kids to talk about why words are spelled the way they are and why we can't throw out frustrating words! My oldest and I had a great discussion about it!

This book was so interesting and quick to read. It was just a fun little pick-me-up of a book that I read in less than 45 minutes.

This was a very interesting story about Noah Webster who, with help from Benjamin Franklin, tried to make the English language easier to read. All of my children and myself wished he was more successful! We all really enjoyed this book. A fun supplemental history book.
