A unique retelling that’s beautiful in every sense of the word.

Very sweet comforting read. Gives Howl’s Moving Castle / beauty and the beast vibes.

I want to say this book was a cozy fairy-tale, but the stakes were reasonably high, so that's not a very accurate description either.
A cross between Beauty and the Beast, Eros and Psyche, and (in my opinion) Snow and Rose, 'Echo North' is an atmospheric fairy tale that felt very comforting. I enjoyed it a lot

For the longest time I was thinking of rating this a 2.5 or a 2.75. This book wasn't bad at all it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think it was written very well and it was a quick read. Towards the end there was some twists in the plot and some reveals that made me enjoy the book more than I had been, that is why it got bumped to a 3. I had a lot of working theories as I read and some were true and others hinted at the truth while some I was totally off. I enjoyed that I didn't guess everything that was gonna happen, I am pretty decent at that and it can kind of suck. My biggest gripe is it was just too whimsical for me but I do thing other people may enjoy it.

Chalk full of new-to-me Russian-inspired (a guess on my part tbh) lore! This was an interesting fantasy with wild and unique magic
