Perry never disappoints. Cole and Poppy's story is a sweet one with all the feels. It's sad, but also reflective and full of hope. Jimmy and Randall add some much needed and well-timed comic relief. Grumpy Old Men starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon has nothing on those two.

Very sweet story but there were so many coincidences (even thought it was mentioned in the story), for me it took away from the story a bit. Like things fell into pace to easily. I do genuinely like Cole he’s a keeper!

4 sad and sweet stars

This is what this book is: sad and sweet. The premise basically demands it, since it starts with our heroine Poppy losing her husband. It is heartbreaking to read about Poppy and Jaime, their love, their lives together, Jaime's parents...ugh it's just tear-inducing.

Yet here comes Cole, a labrador of a man, to take this book from sad to sweet. He is literally everything you could possibly want in a man- he's responsible, smart, understanding, humorous, good-looking, with a good job, manually capable, great chemistry, amazing parents, patient , the list goes on and on.

Slight points off because Cole falls in insta-love with Poppy, but I really adored how patient he was with her grief process and how understanding he was as well with everything to do with Jamie. I loved how it was explored that he might have been feeling jealous of Jamie, yet also feel guilty about that; it seemed very realistic to me.

Another highlight was Finn and Molly, whose book I will soon be reading, but who both were great secondary characters in Poppy's story.

All in all, great book and gimme a Cole.

So sad! Like that’s devastating shit there. It’s got an HEA, but that was rough for me, I can’t even imagine losing my partner/love of my life and then starting over. FMC is great. MMC was hot.

This was a beautiful story full of love and grief and loss. I enjoyed the way that whilst the grieving element was a big part of the plot, it didn’t overpower it. I loved the characters and references to some of the other works that are much newer. It was emotional, moving and beautifully written. Perry is quickly becoming an auto-buy/read author for me and I can’t wait to keep reading her backlist.

This was a good read. I enjoyed the read and the HEA and liked the small mystery that was put into the story. I wish they would have fact checked a small part a little better but I fully recognize I’m probably the only one bothered that it was not accurate. This book gave me all I was looking for.
