Not as good as her other one and rather predictable but it was fine.

A recently orphaned girl comes to live with her eccentric uncle in New York. She gets to know the part her uncle's house and her ancestors played in the Revolutionary War in a very surprising way. This book is written for a younger reader, but I found the characters and plot complex enough to be enjoyable as an adult.

This is a really fun approach to the history of the Revolutionary War in Orange County NY. There is a side story of romance that is unnecessary (innocent, but just seems extra). And the back of the book talks about ghosts in such a way that Caleb asked me to read it to make sure it wasn't going to be too scary. The ghosts are more like characters that come from that past to talk to the main character in her 1950's setting.

Loved it! Funny and witty with great characters. Part of my 8th graders curriculum. We looked forward to reading it everyday and did not want it to end. Highly recommend.

A delightful book. I read it to the kids and we finished quite a bit ahead of schedule because we didn't want to put it down.
