This was really cute! I do love a nice, geeky hero, it's a nice change from all the big tough alpha males.

I must say I was very worried about all of the religiousness mentioned in the book, but it ended up being ok for me because it wasn't preachy and no one tried to tell Ellis and Cole they were wrong for being gay. I thought this book was overly long. It could have ended after the whole Mike incident was resolved, but it continued on, and then the Mother incident, but it continued on. I kept thinking ok this is it, it's over, only to see I had more to go. It would have been nice to maybe just get a short epilogue. The POV changes bugged me too... esp since it wasn't just Ellis and Cole's POVs. We got Rob, Meredith, and Mike's POV's too.

I liked both characters but they both made me mad at certain points. Cole for pushing the first time and for "pitching" instead of "catching" too. If you're going to push someone who's unsure about his sexuality and unsure about what to do or how far he wants to go, maybe letting him do you the first time would have worked out better for everyone involved?! And I'm mad at Ellis for his behavior afterwards. I get being confused and wanting space, but being mean and not talking to Cole for weeks?! Let the guy know you're confused and need some time, don't shut him out and let him suffer. I'm also mad at Ellis's description of how he felt after their first time. What I Got from his comments was that he felt violated and like less of a man afterwards. I know later on he said he didn't feel that way about Cole taking it instead, but I think that's completely F'd up for a gay guy to say. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they got their HEA after all their struggles. I love when a geek gets his man, and I love GFY.

My roommate's a Jock? Well, Crap! by Wade Kelly.

I should've judged the book by its cover but noooo, I had to give it a chance, worst book I've read this year, it was so awful and so poorly written, with a plot that made no sense, with characters that made no sense, and! with! too! many! exclamations! points!

And there was this line in the book,
"He liked girls. Even the fat ones."

Even. The. Fat. Ones
Who writes that? How is that okay? Why that particular difference had to be pointed out, ugh, a completely waste of time.

This is an absolutely shame to M/M romances.

Well that was not what I was expecting!!

I can definitely see how this could be a love it or hate it book. It’s different. I couldn’t stand one MC (Cole) yet still loved the book and was interested in the story. Normally if I don’t like a MC then that’s it for me, but I really enjoyed reading about the incredibly flawed characters and loved how they were average people with a wide range of opinions and emotions. Maybe it was refreshing coming after so long of reading about “perfect” characters and relationships.
I don’t think I would read it again, but would definitely read more from this author.

This was entertaining and really cute. It's exactly my kind of humour, too, so it was perfect for me. I adored Cole and Ellis, but it was definitely Rob and Russell who stole my heart! Their interactions were really funny but also really touching in places too.

I loved this story. The moments of discovery, the bits of passion, the stolen moments. Cole and Ellis were the perfect yin and yang, the jock and the brain. Cole is very set in his ways and Ellis is soooo not part of those ways! But they just fit. There was just enough drama, humor, and sex to keep things interesting. I could have done without Ellis' mother. Talk about an over-compensating helicopter mother. The last few chapters were a little crazy, but still good.

well that was sickeningly sweet. it was a tad too disjointed at times, what with random chapters featuring other characters. and I rly don't like a lot of pop culture references in stories. but it was decent enough. 2 and a half stars.

I liked this book due to the storyline and the way it addresses serious issues but with elements of humour.
Cole was annoying but endearing, Ellis was a thoughtful jock and their friends and family were an interesting mix.
SpoilerMike was a bit of a surprise. He was part of a Christian group of friends but had such extremist views that they knew nothing about (perhaps his character was a bit over the top?)

I loved the chapter headings and there were some humourous lines. But my favourite section was Rob's view on his friend's relationship. "I don't think sin is as black and white as people want it to be. I think sin comes in an array of colors, and one of them is so bright that it blinds us to our ability to love. And if I don't think I can love you just because you're gay, then Satan wins; because without love, the only color left is hate."

I had a really good time reading this.

Sure, it’s mostly light hearted fluff, but there was a bit of angst sprinkled in.
I loved ole and his snark. And Rob! We can’t forget about him, can we? He was such a good friend. The kind I wish for my kids to have.
And yes, Ellis was good too.
What I didn’t like was that it sometimes felt choppy. Like it jumped a bit too much in time. For example when Ellis is injured, we get the whole emergency, then snippets of him staying with his parents. Then suddenly it’s been several weeks. It felt wrong. We’re told about things, but we don’t really see it. That made it feel choppy to me.
