i haven't read many poetry collections, but this one seemed unique. the combination of rituals and their resulting poems helps to give the reader a deeper understanding of the poems (especially if you actually perform the rituals yourself as you read the poem). overall i enjoyed it, though some parts i may be too cynical to understand and appreciate. honestly, i preferred reading the rituals rather than the poems, because i prefer prose and more narrative poems (which the ritual descriptions reminded me of), and i'm personally not a huge fan of the tendency in modern poetry to do minimalism with poetry (eg: no punctuation, lack of structure, reducing the poem to as few words as possible)
