"Every choice feeds every choice that comes after, whether we want those choices or no."

What a dark, atmospheric, gothically gruesome little story this was.. and I absolutely devoured it! It has been years since I read the first installment to this series, but that did not take away any of my enjoyment.

The intricate world that McGuire created here is incredible. I love visiting the portal world that opens up for these special kids. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the twins chosen reality and learning more of their backstory, especially after the events of book 1.

I may reread Every Heart a Doorway before continuing on with this wacky series. Nonetheless, I look forward to discovering more doorways and exploring more within this universe.

Jack and Jill 😍😍😍 I wasn't *quite* as head over heels for this one as I was for the first one, but it was still a very strong installment. This series is just so fun, and diverse, and dark, and I am living.

I was SO excited that Jack and Jill's prequel was right after Every Heart a Doorway because I was SO intrigued by their stories and the little bits of the Moors that were alluded to in the original novella. I will be honest, I LOVED the background we got, both on the twins and the Frankenstein/Dracula gothic world they went to. I love the lengths McGuire went to justify how both Jack and Jill, despite their differences, matched with the world they went to, and how it was an exploration of how parents mess up their children. I loved seeing the parallels between the Master and Dr. Bleak and I'm so excited that we get to go back in a few novellas. Onto the next!
