There is a haunting quality to some of these pieces and for others just a sort of raging beauty. Le Guin gets to use each piece here, especially the prose essay, to critique and comment on various issues of society, all the while focusing on the physical volcano and the result of her eruption. Beautiful, and such a lovely collection exquisitely put together in a gorgeous little book.
