The book seems to mostly focus on glorifying the practice of hustle in the game industry, which I wasn't a huge fan of

Each chapter tells the story of how a different video game was dreamed up and built out. I enjoyed it but it made me sad for the people who make the games we all play and love. So much overworking!! And it's so normalized!! I wish Schreier would have spoken out against that more.

I don't work in this field but my partner does. It really gave me perspective on what he does and what it's like working in such an environment. I've played most of the games mentioned so it allowed me to see behind the scenes of my beloved pass times. It also gave good insight into "crunch" and how this type of environment fosters and encourages it as well as really paints a great picture of the instability of this type of career(s). The audiobook version was well read with excellent pacing.
