This is my favorite vampire, supernatural series. You have to read it!! It is current, sexy and action packed. I love this series and L.A. Banks for writing it.

an excellent blend of urban fiction and urban fantasy. minion is heavy with dialogue, but l.a. banks' worldbuilding was so complex and fascinating that i didn't mind. the time spent talking also makes damali's strong relationship with the warriors of light crew extremely believable. as a reader, i wasn't told, i was shown the strength of their bonds.

i can tell that l.a. banks had a wonderful time writing carlos. he is the perfect balance of sensitive and power hungry. there is so much yearning going on between him and damali - i love it!

can't wait to dive into book 2!

This book was a great read... I had a hard time putting it down most times and would sneak even a paragraph or two when time permitted. I cannot wait to get the next book in the series!

DO NOT get the audiobook. But go ahead and read a print version if a) you're okay reading at least the first two, because this feels like half a book; b) you like your vampire books more horror than mystery or romance, and c) you're okay with the kind of awkward writing that jarringly uses "esophagus" when "throat" would be perfectly fine, and gives you the distinct feeling that the author writing a 20-year old doesn't hang out with many 20-year-olds.
I do like my vampire books more mystery than horror, but the characters are decent and it looks like this is one of those series that gets better after a rough start, so I'm forging on.

I’m a mood reader, so at first I was like umm I don’t know if I’m really feeling this. It had action off rip, which was great. It took me a while to get into it, especially since a lot of info was held back by the team. Once, I did get into it I was invested. I had to know what was happening next. Now I’m ready for the next installment. I need to know how this plays out.

The ending to this book was... lacking. I will continue the series to see if I will be less annoyed. Was a struggle to get through this book.

I have read the first three of this series and am now on The Hunted... This is my inbetween read (along with a few other books) as I wait for Breaking Dawn to come out by Stephenie Meyer. What drew me to these books by L.A. Banks was simply the struggle between good and evil. I'm not a Hip Hop fan, but so far... the Hip Hop Scene isn't truly a big deal in the books. Minion introduces us to the Vampire Huntress and her crew. She's a street wise smart ass tough kinda gal.

I'm a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. This is very much like Buffy... except the slayer is Black and a spoken-word artist, and a little more adult oriented. However, I love that this wasn't just some smutty vamp book. It actually has some depth to it. So all in all, not too bad. I could ready the next book in the series.
