damn these just keep getting better!! i am absolutely loving romana's downward spiral and the moral and ethical connundrums at the heart of politics. i also really enjoyed the subplot of the children in the academy and leela and andred's confused relationship. this audio felt like it had listened to everything criticism i've had of the previous stories and created the perfect response. no notes, it's wonderful.

Steve Lyons takes the series across the last threshold into the realm of a fully formed, deeply political, thriller. What we see growing and reaching a sort of fruition throughout this season is a kind of maturity that few stories in the Who-canon are allowed to reach anymore. It's stunning and from Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson on down the cast list, actors are giving remarkable performances.
When Doctor Who gets too fasinated with it's own mythology, we should all beware. But this shows that it can be done right.

This might be one of the best in the Gallifrey series yet. Curious to see where this story goes.
