I really liked this one even with its awkward moments and interesting characters. The author gives a lot of backstory and depth to her characters which is great especially when the story is so fast paced! It seems like a bit cliche, city girl goes to Alaska
Spoilerand falls in love
but this book is not just a romance. Main character Calla has to deal with a lot, and this book can get emotional even though it is fun. We get to watch the characters go through transformations, learning more about each other and themselves.
SpoilerThe ending leaves readers wondering if the couple will make it or just repeat history, but Jonah is obviously very different from Wren, including the fact that he knows what he wants and will make changes to get it.
Overall enjoyable read!

I made a grave mistake and read a Goodreads review before reading the book and I fixated too much on the fact homeboy did not like makeup on girls. Let girls like girly things if they want to. She can still be girly in Alaska. Besides that, this was very sad and very romantic and I loved the setting. I'm a big Alaska fan and a big fan of a good setting. The side characters were well-fleshed out too.

this book was pretty good!! the characters were a bit juvenile & i’m pretty sure some of their pranks were semi- or very illegal which i didn’t really enjoy, but i liked Calla reconnecting with her dad (even if it didn’t feel as in depth as what Calla was saying it was).

i don’t think this needs a second book tbh. the hope of a relationship for Calla and Jonah meant that the cycle made by her parents was broken - i don’t think that something like that needs a sequel. but that’s not my decision SO i will just voluntarily decline to read the next book.

This is one of my all time favourite books/series. This book fully emerged me into the world of rural Alaska, so much so i’m planning on going there somewhere to experience what Calla did in this book. I loved the city girl to country vibe and it’s definitely a grumpy sunshine trope. This book made me realise how i do actually enjoy grumpy sunshine very much so, i just had to find the right book. The character progression in this book is amazing - and the relationship progression is equally as brilliant and heartwarming to witness. Oh its also a small town romance trope (one of my favourites). The characters in this book are overwhelmingly loveable, hence why i bought the rest of the series immediately after finishing the first book. I didn’t read what this book was about before buying it, i bought it cause i loved the cover art - and it did not disappoint. It’s cozy, heartwarming, tear provoking, spicy and completely loveable - Buy this book immediately!!!
