Disclaimer: Antoinette is my advisor, and this was super useful in thinking through my current project.

It turns out that the scary concept of friction when we are discussing race, is really useful. Antoinette has managed here to openly examine the way the friction of race making causes erasure, creates tension, and opens possibility for collaboration and new identity. I liked that each chapter was about a document not necessarily in the traditional archive, and I loved the way that she incorporated novels as historical documents. Learned a lot, and believe others could too.
