I've had experience reading some stuff from postmodernist contemporaries of Derrida (mostly Michel Foucault and Pierre Bourdieu), but have struggled with what little Derrida I have read. This was a nice introduction. If nothing else, I now understand that the way Derrida writes is in some ways more important than what he is actually saying. Which is an interesting approach that I quite enjoy. Will have a look at some of his work.

An interesting introduction, easy to read, and with enough complexity to get you thinking.

This is not quite a beginner's book; it helps to have had some exposure to the general principles of deconstruction (which is complicated and can be hard to summarize succinctly, as this book points out). But it's a lot more amusing and far less dry than your typical theory book, and I appreciated that about it.

I haven't had much success in reading Derrida himself, although I was more or less familiar with his ideas. This guide help clarify my thinking and left me more confident I understand his main concepts.
