The 2021 Goodreads Goal Cram: 2/9

Tied up a lot of loose ends and made it clear that some of the past confusion was just temporary. Expects a lot of the reader which I like.

The overall energy of this series seems to be chaos and nihilism so it has its limits in terms of how emotionally affecting it is, but the plot is interesting and the universe is fun.

usually try to take my time with comics that I have physical copies of, but just felt so good to binge this like I would when I was a kid, think this has been a lot of fun

Would've been 5 stars if not for the intense blandness of the Sakhmet issue.

Wicked and The Divine Year 2 elevates the plot from a commentary on celebrity obsession in the 21st century to an action packed drama... and it’s awesome.

James McKelvie is absent for the first half of this book but it didn’t hurt the book too much. For this arc, the plot slowed down to flesh out some of the members of the Pantheon not highlighted in the first Hardcover. I really appreciated this because pretty much all of the gods are interesting, so fleshing them out with guest artists was a really smart idea. The artists chosen for these arcs fit their God very well. When McKelvie comes back for the last half of this book, the plot progresses at breakneck speed and it’s awesome. Gillen and McKelvie ramp it up to 11 and set up a really cool status quo for the book for the third hardcover.

Wick+Div Volume 2 gets a solid 8.5/10 from me. I’m definitely going to be picked up the subsequent volumes, this series is great.
