This has its moments of amazing and some moments of boredom. I liked all the characters but also did not feel like they stood out to me. The ending though...i will be reading book two when it comes out

A vampire heist book with tea and pastries, what more could you want?

Honestly….I probably wasn’t in the right mood. But I also thought there wasn’t a lot of description for things and I missed it a bit. Didn’t feel as cozy as I hoped it would

I didn’t go into this book blind.  Given I bought the Owlcrate edition, I wanted to be sure that I liked the synopsis.

The story kept me engaged most of the time.  I liked the characters, especially Matteo and Flick.  The setting felt dark and gritty and I enjoyed the interrelationships.  The tension too.  Omg the tension and plot teists!  Plus, I do love a book focused on tea!

My main issue was that each time I thought of the Crows (Grishaverse), they came out on top.  At times, especially in the beginning, I kept comparing them.  Also we are told and not shown how important Spendthrift is, which made me feel a bit disconnected.

Overall, though, I enjoyed this book and am itching for the sequel.
