Gosh, I don’t even know what to say…I laughed, I cried, I reflected, cried and laughed some more…I think this is my favorite read of the year so far and I’ve had a few really good reads…I almost don’t even want to start another book, just want to reread this one…and sit in the glow a little bit longer. I will write a more proper review later (maybe), just needed to write out my initial reactions now. Maybe I loved it even more because I’m a runner…it’s making me love Nike (even though I’ve read Born to Run). End of dazed ramble.

“It’s just business.” It’s never just business. It never will be. If it ever does become just business, that will mean that business is very bad. - Phil Knight

Wow, Amazing, Exhilarating, Wholesome. Completely blown away!
Words don't do justice to how legendary this book is.

Phil Knight shares his journey about a young confused soul whose love for running transforms him into one of the best entrepreneurs. It's wasn't about money never. It was to build something worthy that provides value to people, something which resonates among each one of us.

The writing is mesmerizing. Phil nonchalantly talks about the massive ups and daunting downs, adding humor at every corner. The company is about to collapse, but David and Golaith pun is a must.

It's like I was present with Phil in all those sleepless nights, business trips, trials, board meetings so crucial to the fate of Nike.

Kudos to him for staying honest in his accounts - articulating his insecurities and short-sightedness at times, giving due credit to others, accepting his wrongdoings, and being authentic.

You know there are times when I am grateful that I started reading and this is one of those moments.

Being a sports enthusiast this book had hit me differently (especially the epilogue).

Fascinating story of Nike's inception, product development (some experiments involving waffle irons!) and marketing ("there is no finish line"). An inspiring read.

"So that morning in 1962 I told myself: Let everyone else call your idea crazy … just keep going. Don't stop. Don't even think about stopping until you get there, and don't give much thought to where 'there' is. Whatever comes, just don't stop."

This is a must-read for sneakerheads, anyone interested in business, anyone in need of motivation, and anyone who enjoys stories about someone remaining steadfast in their vision, despite having a ton of obstacles arising on their journey. This book is a rollercoaster ride. Although I adore it, I really give it a 4 1/2 because it should've been longer. I know this is a considered a "memoir," but it feels more so about the "history" of the company Phil Knight co-founded, Nike. There was so much important information that was merely touched on for a sentence or two in the epilogue that should've had their own chapters, like Michael Jordan for one. The huge impact of Air Jordan elevating Nike to even higher heights should've definitely been included.
