No true conflict, but it was a fun novella.

Just OK

I have read Lynn Rate Harris' HOT series before, and they held my interest from the first page to the last. When Sam showed up and whisked Georgie off to protect her, I expected a lot more action and suspense. This one was kind of blah.

Sam spent so much time bemoaning the fact that he wasn't on Georgie's level, it took away from the chemistry they started to rebuild.

No big deal. Just ok.

HOT Mess is the type of story that we all hunger for—filled with passion, action, and intrigue—and both Georgie and Sam are fantastic characters, all pieces that come together to make this story into a masterpiece. The action of this series certainly becomes even more deadly and the drama more terrifying, but this early story in the series is wonderful even in its infancy to the beginnings of the HOT missions. Sam has spent his life trying to make something of himself to prove that he is better than his parents, and even though he doesn’t think he is good enough for Georgie, when he accepts that his love for her is too strong to let her go he fights more to make sure he continues to earn her love. Georgie has never cared how Sam began, she has always seen the kind of man he would grow into and has loved that man for more than half her life, but when he broke her heart and left her behind, she tried to find happiness with another. Having a second chance to find their HEA together, despite all the danger they are facing, give Georgie and Sam an even greater reason to fight the evil coming for them. I enjoyed every romantic and passionate moment of Georgie and Sam’s return to love, even when they were fighting together, because the obvious chemistry between them is just too good to deny. I can recall from my review that there were a few issues with the drama plot points being a bit abrupt and leaving me wanting, but this expanded version gave me much more and filled in much of that need, taking away that lack and making this story into the fully rounded and fleshed out story that I wanted from the very beginning. If you haven’t tried this series yet, I recommended grabbing this story as the beginning of your adventure with the HOT guys and if you are a longtime reader you will enjoy this expanded version as much as I did and not regret grabbing it. I am dying to see what comes next in the series overall and of course continuing to see more and more of Sam and Georgie in their present lives even in those stories.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

I thought this was a good book. The only thing that I didn't really like was how things seemed to be rushed sometimes. Things just seemed to happen way to quickly and there wasn't much story to it. The sex was pretty hot, well what little you got to read about it. I mean it was way to wham bam thank you mam with the writing for these scenes, I was a little disappointed. But I will say that I loved the dirty talking, that made up for the scenes. It did have some funny moments and there were just a few awe moments. I liked Georgie most of the time, she did get a little annoying. But she did have some hidden spunk to her that drew me in. As far as Sam goes, well he didn't make me swoon. He was almost shallow. I did like that he had respect for G and yum the man had tattoos. But that was really all I got from him. I was also expecting more from the climax, when it all came down to the action...there was just nothing. It was a simple phone call and it was all over. Ehhh, blah. I was hoping for some shock and awe from these HOT guys. But nope, nothing. So over ll, I liked some of the book, the story was ehh and the characters were ok. But I will probably still read more from this series just because I want to see how it goes.

This was a quick easy read with some really enjoyable characters. It had great writing, a suspenseful plot line and a resolution that didn't feel forced. Highly recommend to others.

This was a fun, short read. It made me want more of the characters. This was totally perfect for a break from classes.
