reading this book made me realise Monster Blood 4 is derivative of this book. There's dialogue taken from this book and basically pasted straight into 4. It's not a good book I didn't really like it. Even is a bit of a dick and hearing him fantasise about harming Cuddles before he's done anything is gross. The adults are negligent with the amount of bullying Even faces to such extreme levels. Also I don't find Monster Blood very scary and having it expire is so stupid. Yeah about what I expected when there's a low opinion of the Monster Blood series.

 I recently got a bit of the nostalgia bug when thinking back to the Goosebumps books I read as a kid. Goosebumps, and by extension the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark series, definitely introduced me to the genre of horror. After Goosebumps I moved onto classics like Dracula and Jekyll/Hyde, then on to the gown up stuff throughout my life and to this day. Well, this nostalgia bug got me wanting to re-collect the original 62 run of Goosebumps books, and in their first run printings because of the amazing covers. Perhaps the best part of the series was the covers. Next up;
#18, Monster Blood 2
There are a handful of books in the Goosebumps series that act as sequels or franchises within the overall Goosebumps mythos. Monster Blood is one of those, with having a few instalments that revolve around the same strange goo that makes anyone who eats it grow. As far as sequels go, this book does its job. It picks up the following school year after the previous Monster Blood book, and it soon involves trouble when the school hamster is fed a small amount of the goop. But that's also where this story falls flat. The reason the hamster even wound up eating the monster blood is a lame one, and the growing hamster doesn't actually occur until the final few chapters. Most of the book is spent with the protagonist being bullied and having nightmares about his previous monster blood experience.
As far as Goosebumps books go, this one was a little boring until the growing hamster part. Also, not sure if I approve of the main two characters literally breaking into a schoolmate's house to get back the monster blood, and to never address how wrong/bad idea it was. Odd.

I can't help but think R.L. Stine has a different definition of "jerk" than I do.

Ok 1. At the beginning I swear every time Evan talked about Conan he'd mention how hot he thought he was before describing him doing the meanest thing ever
