You got the future in the palm of your hand
All you gotta do to get you through is understand
You think you'd rather do with out
You'll never muddle through
Without the truth
The facts of life are all about you

I've really come to trust [a: Charlie Jane Anders|4918514|Charlie Jane Anders|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1532450668p2/4918514.jpg] as an author, such inventiveness and execution! This one takes the classic "What would you do with 3 wishes?" tale and turns it into a search for value, meaning, and human truth. I really enjoyed this read, as I have her others.

This one kept me wondering "what would I do in Marisol's place?" over and over again, and I think for myself, coming up short each time. After reading this, I want to do better, be better.

I need, like, a book club on this one. There's meta stuff going on that I'm definitely missing. But it works as a story even without the meta, which is impressive.

Entertaining story post-apocalypse. Many of the theater references went over my head, but it was fun to read. The best part is Marisol taking advantage of just having Richard around to keep her company and talk theatre. I was excited for what her wishes would be, but they ended up being fairly basic. I would be interested to see if the third wish plays out how she hopes or if something would go wrong after all.
