This is not my typical sort of read. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have read it if Genevieve Turner had not already thoroughly won my trust with her historical series.

I don't usually like the whole boss/secretary dynamic, but it works well here for a lot of reasons and is not at all creepy or uncomfortable. I liked both Benedict and Pilar. Their characters are developed well for a such a short book and I really liked how well their relationships with the people around them were also developed. It was a fun read for a night but this isn't one I can imagine coming back to for rereads. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Tough love is tough on everyone

That's what Pilaf and Benedict had to learn about being the eldest sibling dealing with family. Even though they made plans for their younger siblings, plans change. They both had to be flexible with change. Pilar had to let her brother Javier walk his own path. Benedict had to move his plans up to woo her when Pilaf turned in her resignation. He loved her enough to set her free and let her walk her own path. When he admitted he loved her from the beginning, she had to adjust her plans to make sure he was included in their quest for accounting certification and independence of the Merrill charity. They both learned that life is full of changes and one has to learn to go with the flow.
This was an easy read romance.

I truly enjoyed this book, though I do think the author made Benedict a little too perfect and in doing so made the story a little hard to believe. But I liked it (guess I was in the mood for a sweet and perfect overload).
It was nice to read a Hispanic character's Romance story with a HEA. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

The emotions felt a bit wishy washy at times and I got really frustrated with the female lead, but overall a cute fun read.

This was a freebie series starter, and I really liked it! Pilar gives her notice, and her boss takes that as his cue to tell her he's been in love with her for years. As Pilar does her best to finish raising her younger brother after their parents' deaths, she is finally ready to do something for herself. With plans to finish her degree and send her brother off to college wobbling, she appreciates Benedict stepping in to help out. I think the cutest part of this book is the fact that Benedict does his best to fix everything for everyone else without feeling like he has a stick up his butt. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Pilar works for Benedict Murrill who she feels has given so much charity to her family that she feels suffocated. She's ready to go out and do something for herself and earn her own way. So, she hands him a letter of resignation and gives him plenty of time to hire a new assistant and train them. Three months is surely enough time. Only when she gives him the resignation letter, he's pissed and hurt.

In her mind, he's always been nothing but professional and aloof when it comes to her. All of a sudden he's taking an interest in her and proposes they move to something more outside of the office. Off guard, she thinks it's ridiculous at first. He's doing it to keep her around.

Things get heated and he continues to fix things and pay for things while showing her a side of him she's never seen. Cute and sexy and a little sweet.

I found this book to have way too much lust at the beginning. It got better, but the beginning was a bit annoying. And the final page was too abrupt. Not something I entirely like.... Plus I would prefer the character completing each other, rather than facing the same problem with a different attitude.
Other than that, it was funny and sexy. It gave me a different perspective on relationships, that other novels don't and I really appreciated that!
I received a copy via Netgalley in exchange of my honest review.
