Trust me, you want to read this book. I received an ARC from the author and devoured this book. The writing is beautiful and the story winds it way through time with twists and turns you don't see coming. It was an emotional rollercoaster that I wasn't willing to get off. Set against the backdrop of apartheid in South Africa is was a look into history, culture, and family dynamics. It was enlightening, heart warming at times while being heart breaking at others. The final chapters left my jaw on the floor and left me questioning everything I thought I knew. Ultimately this book is about love, family, obsession, and overcoming even the darkest obstacles.
