More sex than story, which I’m not complaining about but did read like fan fiction though- like how a teenager thinks dirty talk is

The female narrator’s voice for the male dialogue was atrocious. She sounded like a pimply teenager with barely hair one between the legs instead of the sexy mountain man.

Great book!! I received this book through a goodreads.com giveaway and I was afraid the book wouldn't have a good story...mostly sex scenes....BUT the story was super!! I was immediately hooked on Luke and Madison. This was a quick read, a book you won't want to put down! Loved it!!

Misadventures of a City Girl by Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss

Narrated by Jennifer Mack and Lance Greenfield

Standalone in the Misadventures Series of Standalones

I bought a signed copy of Misadventures of a City Girl at the Bookworm Box last summer before it even came out but never got a chance to read it until grabbing it from the Audible Romance Package last month. I figured you can’t go wrong with two powerhouses like Chelle Bliss and Meredith Wild.
“Today I am Madison Atwood, and the next chapter of my life is going to start at Avalon Springs.”

Madison is a makeup artist to the stars who just had a messy divorce from a Hollywood bigwig. Looking to get away from the paparazzi, she heads to a fancy mountain resort.

Not realizing the resort is very social, Madison just wants some alone time so she hikes off and finds some secluded hot springs to soak in. When Luke Dawson finds a gorgeous naked woman in his spring, he can’t help but watch her.

Luke is an ex Navy SEAL with PTSD who lives in a secluded mountain cabin to be as far away from society as possible. He’s not a fan of having the city folk on his mountain, but can’t deny his attraction to Madison.

When circumstances push the two together, holy shit, sparks fly. What follows is some HOT sex. And more sex. And even more sex.

Luke is attentive and amazing, and who could help falling in instalove with this bear of a man.
"If I shiver, he envelops me in his arms until the cold evaporates. If my stomach growls, he hops from the bed and fixes me something to eat. If I yawn, he carries me to the bed and whispers in my ear until my eyes flutter closed. He doesn’t smother me with his actions, but makes me feel adored and important—something I’m not used to feeling anymore."

Let me make this clear, this book was more novella than novel, and more sex than story. It was a quick, hot, instalove story, but it was well-written and fun for what it was. I would have loved to have had more character background and development, but there was a ton of swoony romantic moments as well as hot sex to make up for some of it.
“Loving Madison has become the sole reason for my existence.”

Can the recluse and the Hollywood girl find a way to stay together?

Likes:

  • •Well written

  • •A quick read.

  • •Very romantic and swoony.

  • •Lots of very hot sex.

  • •Great Narration.

  • •Seamless writing. There is no indication it was written by two.

Dislikes:

  • •More sex than story.

  • •Very little background on the characters.

  • •Instalove is one thing, but intsa-change-your-whole-life is another.

  • •His PTSD feels magically cured.

The Narration:

I really loved Jennifer Mack as a Narrator and don’t think I’ve heard her before. Lance Greenfield did a great job but was a very, very small part overall.

The Down & Dirty:

All in all Misadventures of a City Girl was a very sexy, quick, and not very deep read, which is I think what the Misadventures books all are. If you are looking for a quick book with a hot mountain man, and lots of sexy times, you’ll enjoy this one, but I was hoping for a little more depth.

Rating: 3 Stars, 4.5 Heat, Narration 5

City girl meets country boy. A little predictable, but enjoyable.

Well that was a steamy read. I think it moved very quickly, but I liked the characters of Luke & Madison. They both had trouble in past relationships and found solace in each other. I wish we learned more about the characters instead of reading about their sexcapades every 5 pages. I also thing the section with Susan seemed a bit out of place.

Page Count ~ 187 (16 chapters +e)
Audio length ~ 5 hours 56 minutes
Narrators ~ Jennifer Mack, Lance Greenfield
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ insta love, some steamage

Madison & Luke ~ city girl meets mountain man.
Madison needs some time alone and out of the spotlight after her divorce from a celebrity, so she heads to a retreat.
Luke is a recluse and doesn't like being around people. He happens upon Madison in a compromising position and scares the bejeezus outta her. Then the next day she finds him in a similar position.

This was fine, but I didn't care for the insta love with this one and he was a little too possessive early on for me. I did like Madison's relationship with her ex mother in law.

Series notes:
Every book in this series is a standalone. Some are single or duo authors and some collaborations.

Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference.
