ingo_lembcke's review against another edition
Looked for the next books, already owning the first volume of this trilogy (for free), this edition with all 3 books was cheaper than the second and third bought separately.
This is now filmed from BBC as a (limited?) TV-Series, bought and saw the first season, the second is planned to be broadcast 2020. With a few changes an excellent series so far.
Paused reading the second book ( Shadow of Night ) after the first chapter for nearly a year. Just finished it (December 5th, 2019) and will read the third book ( The Book of Life ) after watching the second season.
The books feature more sex-scenes than the TV-series, which came as surprise to me.
Currently 4-5 stars. The scenes in the dark past with quite a few well known historical persons feel very real. Normally I am not too fond of that, but here the pages are alive.
Highly recommended as far as I have read.

Very enjoyable
Really enjoyed this trilogy. Well researched and good storyline. Started watching the new tv show and decided I’d like to read the books first and glad I did. Books are always better than tv shows in my opinion.

This was quite a trilogy to get through, and I'm sure I missed parts as I skim read out of boredom due to the sheer amount of details. The ending felt abrupt, and any "action" was brief. I'm curious to know what happens next despite abandoning the trilogy several times.
