I read/listened to this book interchangeably. I enjoyed the story mostly for the atmosphere. The audiobook really enhances the experience. There wasn't much of a plot, but I enjoyed the writing prose and the visuals and feelings it evoked.

I'm excited to try another of Maguire's work - since it's Christmas I plan on trying Hiddensee next!

Thanks to Goodreads Giveaways/First Reads program for the ARC of this book.

I'm still not quite sure what to make of this strange, fantasical little book. It was very realistic except with a strange element of fantasy that finally happened about 20% of the way into the story. The purpose of this element never became clear to me as it really did not seem to truly further the story, but it did make it more interesting. Our MC was also quite unique because she was simultaneously very annoying and very sympathetic. I'll probably be pondering this one for a while.
